Through PC-Donatie Viafrica collects used hardware. This hardware is sold in the Netherlands. The proceeds are used for ICT projects in Africa.
Via PC Donation we want to achieve two things; independence and freedom to spend resources. Viafrica has been able to carry out its projects because of donations from development funds. These funds have enabled us to develop our programs and build the organization. We do not want to remain dependent on these contributions. Firstly, because we believe they are intended to support new initiatives and secondly because the downside is that many of these funds will have earmarked money. This makes it difficult to adapt projects, adjust or redirect tehm. While we, as an entrepreneurial organization would like to have this flexibility to best respond to our audiences.
The main activity of the PC-Donation campaign is to acquire hardware donations of organisation. We are constantly looking for organisation which are replacing their hardware and are willing to donate this to Viafrica. Subsequently, we ensure the collection of the hardware and certified wiping of all data carriers. Then the hardware is old in The Netherlands. This process is carried out by our partner SiSo. The returns are invested in social projects of Viafrica.
