Viafrica has two projects to provide secondary schools in Africa with educational materials: the Classworksacademy and the CLASSworks Box. Both consist of existing educational materials that have been made available by third parties. The demand from the secondary schools is leading for the included educational materials as is the national educational curriculum.

Classworksacademy
The CLASSworksacademy website offers a rich variety of educational materials with a search option for the form and subject. The educational materials comprise examples, interactive games and practice materials. It also includes books, films and the 'Wikipedia for schools'. Topicality is guaranteed by continuous updates and additions. CLASSworksacademy can be visited via the internet (www.classworksacademy.com, www.classworksacademy.net) or for CLASSworks schools without an internet connection via the web server.

CLASSworksBox
The CLASSworksBox is a box containing various types of educational materials, such as books, CDs, newspaper articles and films. Visits from guest speakers and educational trips can also form part of it. Each developed box has a theme related to one or more subjects from the national educational curriculum. The first themes are biodiversity and HIV-Aids. Two examples of boxes that have been developed:

Biodiversity
Biodiversity is about all forms of life on earth, such as the variety and the interdependence of life forms and their place in the ecosystem. The box has been developped in cooperation with ETI BioInformatics, a non-governmental organisation that has the task to provide information about biodiversity.

HIV-Aids
The HIV-Aids ClassworksBox is about staying healthy and having a relationship without the danger of an HIV infection. In a funny, interesting way serious education is given through games, stories, drama and discussion assignments. The box has been developed in cooperation with White Orange Youth in Tanzania and TACI in Kenya.

Cooperation with QliCT
Viafrica develops new CLASSworksBoxes in cooperation with QliCT. In the Netherlands, they supply educational packages to primary schools, which have a similar intention as the CLASSworksBoxes.

Do you want to receive a CLASSworksBox?
All African schools where Viafrica has equipped a computer room may borrow the CLASSworksBox. The boxes circulate per semester. Please contact Viafrica if your school is interested!
