Viafrica was nominated for a Computable Award in the category of Most Social responsible ict company of the year 2012. Every year, the ict-specialist journal awards companies, projects and people that have distinguished themselves in the past year. From its branches in Kenya and Tanzania, Viafrica offers sustainable ict-solutions for the education sector, local SMEs and NGOs., offering maintenance, support and training. A professional and independent jury has nominated Viafrica in this category, among four other companies.
Joost Dam, director of Viafrica was chose to give a presentation at the eLearning Africa 2012 conference. This conference will take place from 23rd to 25th May in Cotonou, Benin. This year’s programme will focus on e-learning and sustainability.
In april 2012 Viafrica's pilot 'KIDSworks' began in Tanzania and Kenya. The project Kidsworks will provide ICT support to some social organisations that visit schools with life skills programmes. These organisations are Macheo Children's Centre and Watoto in Kenya and White Orange Youth in Tanzania.
