Each Viafrica initiative assumes financial and social sustainability. Projects have to be able to exist independently and self-sufficiently and they have to fit in their social structure.

Projects

A fixed objective within each project is independence from external resources. We support schools in acquiring a computer room, but they are responsible for its operational costs. We make sure that there is knowledge available locally to guarantee the continuing support to the projects. The schools pay local fees. A continuous fine-tuning with project beneficiaries leads to solutions that match practice.

Own organisation

Viafrica wants to be an organisation that can operate independently. For that reason we also develop commercial activities addition to our social projects. The proceeds from those commercial operations are at the basis of all our activities.

Recycling of e-waste

E-waste originating from Africa is a big problem. It cannot be processed responsibly there. Together with Delft University of Technology, the SteP Initiative, SiSo and the Rabobank Nederland we are working towards a solution. Our point of departure is to recycle as much e-waste as possible locally and to process the materials that cannot be processed in Africa in Europe.
