Viafrica pursues social objectives in the field of ICT for education in Africa by applying an economic approach. Points of departure are the economic sustainability, local demand and a focus on the middle class. This offers a healthy basis for initiatives to be independent from support and allowing them to keep on functioning self-reliantly.
Viafrica initiates projects itself, such as our CLASSworks programme that has already provided more than 280 schools with computer rooms. We also support projects of third parties with specific ICT knowledge and means.
The necessary means for implementing our projects originate from funds and increasingly from partnerships with businesses like PC-Donation. We also generate income through economic activities in Africa and through advice to other (development) organisations.
Viafrica has won the Computable Award in the category: most social engaged ICT company for the year 2012.
